Your savings for a more sustainable brewing future
Belgian brewing heritage is part of our history, our know-how, and our identity. But to remain alive, it must be able to evolve in the face of rising costs, new consumption habits, and increasing environmental demands.
This transformation represents a particular challenge for small and medium-sized breweries. Their resources are more limited, and suitable solutions are often rare, fragmented, or financially difficult to access.
Beer in Mind, a spin-off from ULB based in Usquare, was born from a conviction: preserving our brewing heritage does not mean freezing the past, but giving breweries the means to meet their challenges and build a more sustainable future.
Connecting research, breweries, and industry
In the coming weeks, Beer in Mind will launch its first valorisation streams for spent grains from partner breweries.
Studies and research projects will accompany their development, from optimising logistics and drying to transforming spent grains into food ingredients and biomaterials. Other work will focus on modelling fermentation processes.
These projects will involve teams from the École polytechnique de Bruxelles, the École de Bioingénierie de Bruxelles, the Faculty of Sciences, and the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management.
Our goal is to create circular and sustainable value chains linking academic research, the brewing sector, and industrial partners, in order to make these innovations accessible to small and medium-sized breweries and to support them in their transition.
Mobilise local savings
To kickstart this dynamic, Beer in Mind is launching a Proxi Loan, initially aimed at individuals residing in one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region.
The Proxi Loan allows Brussels residents to lend directly to a local business while benefiting from interest and an annual regional tax credit.
The main parameters are:
- accessible from €1,000;
- duration of 8 years;
- fixed gross annual interest rate of 4.5%;
- annual tax credit calculated on the remaining capital: 4% for the first three fiscal years, then 2.5%;
- quarterly interest repayment, with a three-year grace period for capital repayment.
By participating, you will contribute to the launch of research and valorisation activities of Beer in Mind and to the construction of new circular brewing sectors in Brussels.
