In the world of craft brewing, every beer has a story, an inspiration, a reason for being. La Première Sess is much more than just a beer: it is a collective adventure, born from a desire to come together and create as one.
A beer born from a student co-creation
After the adventure of La Galoche, the first beer co-created with a community of alumni and craft beer enthusiasts, the Beer in Mind team wanted to go even further. This time, the co-creation focused on students.
Rather than following a ready-made recipe, Julien Deleglise initiated an interactive and participatory approach. He launched a large survey, involving around a hundred students, to understand their preferences, expectations, and desires regarding beer.
The results revealed a clear profile: an accessible, balanced, light and refreshing beer, perfect for accompanying moments of relaxation after classes, but with enough character to appeal to craft beer enthusiasts.
A beer thought for them, by them
Based on the responses collected, the recipe for La Première Sess has taken shape, true to the participants' expectations :
- A golden blonde to light amber colour, bright and welcoming.
- A moderate alcohol content (5.2%), perfect for an evening with friends without being too strong.
- A balanced bitterness (IBU 25-30), neither too pronounced nor too subdued.
- Subtle yet present aromas, blending floral notes, toasted grains, and a slight spicy touch.
- A slightly dry finish, with a roundness on the palate that offers optimal drinkability.
The aim was to find the perfect balance between a beer that is easy to drink, yet leaves a good impression with its delicate flavours and authentic character..
Why "La Première Sess"?
As soon as the recipe was defined, another question arose: what name should be given to it?
Since this beer is the first recipe co-created with students, the name "La Première Sess" came to us naturally, hoping that in the future, this beer brings good luck to them all.
And then, what could be better than a nice cold beer to celebrate the end of a successful session?
