At Beer in Mind, we have an ambition: to brew beer differently, by directly involving our community in the creation process. Rather than imposing a finished product, we have chosen to give a voice to beer enthusiasts, students, alumni of ULB, and brewing enthusiasts.
But why did we make this choice of co-creation?
A brewery for ULB by and for its community
The starting idea is simple: When the brewery is operational, to allow students and ULB to brew their own beers, away from the standards imposed by large brewing groups. Beer has always been an element of conviviality and sharing at the university, and we want to strengthen this bond by offering an alternative where everyone can actively get involved.
Imagine a beer representative of each faculty, circle or association of the ULB, created with their members, according to their tastes and desires. A unique and authentic beer that reflects the identity and history of the community that conceived it.
A brewery for alumni and beer enthusiasts
Co-creation is not only aimed at students: alumni and beer enthusiasts also have a key role to play in this adventure! Beer in Mind is also a way to bring together a community, to create connections between generations of ULB alumni, and to share a common passion for brewing.
Alumni often have a strong attachment to their university, and what better way to strengthen that bond than with a beer created together? Through co-creation, they can not only get involved in an innovative project but also give back to ULB a spirit of sharing and transmission.
And for beer enthusiasts, it’s a unique opportunity to actively participate in the creation of new recipes, discover the secrets of brewing, and experiment with original flavours. Taking part in Beer in Mind means moving from the status of consumer to that of creator!
And what is co-creation?
To turn this vision into reality, we have designed a multi-step process:
- Survey of the community: We are gathering the tastes and preferences of our members.
- Selection of recipes: Based on the expressed trends and expectations.
- Description and collective validation: Before production, we share the recipe sheets to refine the choices.
- Production and brewing: The selected beers are brewed using high-performance and professional equipment.
- Tasting: Our members sample the beers at events and give their feedback.
- Order delivery: Everyone can receive their favourite beer to enjoy at home.
- Feedback and adjustments: Online sessions and surveys will allow members to give their opinions on the beers. The feedback helps to improve the recipes for future productions.
